And we have shouted some slogans at protests I’ve been on. But that’s normal for a protest, isn’t it? Only recently outlawed. I’m sure I’ve heard politicians shouting at each other in the House of Commons, too.

People have come together who may not have done. People have become (re-)politicised - and ‘professional’, comfortable, long-term politicians don’t like it. I think it’s good for democracy.

The Councillors are elected to represent us, not dictate to us (or dismiss us as ‘fucking moaners’), and the Council officers work for us, yet their attitude seems to be as bad or worse. Something really rotten in the organisational culture.

As the Centric Lab report highlights, these things need to be thought through more carefully, taking people with them, and implemented equitably, not as an opportunistic moneygrabbing afterthought.

We’re not alone. Cllr Mason acknowledged last year that he is operating a racist system. One of his own councillors resigned rather than work with him as Leader because of his ‘toxic brand of politics’.

I’m angry because no one is listening. Three years ago I was told by none other than Cllr Mason that he would not represent mine and my neighbours' concerns, that we should be quiet, and be good neighbours, while his MIPIM pals gas us in our homes.

I think your depiction of your fellow Ealing residents who take a different view from you and perhaps express it in a different manner is unfair and unhelpful. We are people, not hounds.

Mason is my local ward councillor and offered two week consultation before implementing what in effect is a High Traffic Neighbourhood in an already congested area.

When it came out that it wasn’t true, councillors felt unable to trust former leader any more on already contentious issue. Council lied to residents.

Mason wrote the Ealing Labour manifesto in 2018, including implementing LTNs. They have a mandate. They cocked it up by doing nothing about it until covid funding appeared with a short deadline meaning imposition without any consultation.
