Read more@KRH64445995 @davidxbuck @EalingLabour @GregoryStafford @EalingIndys You were asking about LTNs. In Southall, what people say they want and need is improved pavements that are safe for children, parents, older people, people with mobility issues, etc. Often people who don’t have cars. Pavements used for parking, dog toilet, bin, and dump.

Read more@KRH64445995 @davidxbuck @EalingLabour @GregoryStafford @EalingIndys Well, we hope it’s a vote winner, and we think it should be a priority in Southall. People have complained about the same old issues for long enough in a Labour supporting area. Labour has had twelve years to improve things and failed.

Read more@KRH64445995 @davidxbuck @EalingLabour @GregoryStafford @EalingIndys I think the starting point for me and many people we’ve spoken to is fixing our broken, dirty, unsafe pavements, which would improve ‘active travel’ options for everyone.
Read more@KRH64445995 @davidxbuck @EalingLabour @GregoryStafford We’re independents, so not a political party in the usual sense. The national @indienetworkuk is registered as a political party with the @ElectoralCommUK, and @EalingIndys is affiliated to it. But policies are always local, which is the whole point.
Read more@KRH64445995 @davidxbuck @EalingLabour @GregoryStafford @EalingIndys Yes, but I don’t believe LTNs solve that particular problem. One of the first things Mason did as a Southall Green councilllor was to consult and implement what can only be described as a High Traffic Neighborhood where I live, taking cars off the main road on to ‘rat runs’.
Read more@KRH64445995 @davidxbuck @EalingLabour @GregoryStafford Leslie has been a driving force in making it relatively easy for ordinary residents to stand as independent candidates on issues they care about. There was nothing to stop pro-LTN (or anti-LTN) campaigners standing with or without Leslie’s help, but afaik no one has done so.

Read more@KRH64445995 @davidxbuck @EalingLabour @GregoryStafford Exactly! Binary choice, and therefore Mason effectively campaigned for a Tory government. That’s reality. Many people now calling for policies we could have had if it wasn’t for the likes of Mason doing the Tories' job for them.
Read more@KRH64445995 @davidxbuck @EalingLabour @GregoryStafford I’m not sure they are as crucial as you seem to think. We have been talking to people, our neighbours, in the wards where we are standing for years. We think we have a good idea of what people want and what they don’t want. Labour’s majority is massive, though.
